Contented Pig Inn is run by a small yet dedicated team of volunteers. Our onsite crew works around the clock to care for the piggies and maintain the sanctuary, while our remote crew takes care of the other stuff like administration and fundraising.
We are all mad about pigs, and even those who live away from the sanctuary have their own families of rescue piggies at home!
Kathie
Sanctuary founder, also known as #1 crazy pig lady.
Kathies journey with pigs began in the suburbs of Sydney, when she took in her first pig Dozer (pictured). Unaware that her life was about to change forever, Dozer the “mini pig” grew into a BIG BIG pig and the pair moved off into the country to start a new life.
Kathie IS the heart, soul, and hands on driving force of Contented Pig Inn. Alongside her 24/7 commitment to the sanctuary, Kathie is employed as a disability support worker which helps to provide funds for the sanctuary and sometimes herself!
As time progressed, Kathie adopted a second pig named Vyvyan, saving her from a short life in a local farm – At this point she witnessed first hand the horrific standards in which farmed pigs were kept, and had to do more to help. After taking in a few more rescue piggies, it was official – Contented Pig Inn was born.
Incase you didn’t guess, her favourite colour is pink.
Dave
Live in volunteer
Dave first got involved with Contented Pig Inn, helping out during our big move from Northern Rivers to New-England region. He is now a full time live in volunteer! Dave loves the pigs and has no trouble making friends around the sanctuary. He keeps the food and water flowing, as well as being our Mr Fix-It.
Erin
Secretary & board member
Erin stumbled into pigs accidentally in 2021, when a 2 day old piglet popped up needing medical treatment after suffering a catastrophic leg injury. As a former vet nurse, Erin offered to try and help him recover, but Snoot had other plans…He wormed his way into Erins heart, and took her on an unexpected journey.
Snoot led Erin to find Contented Pig Inn, learn more about these amazing animals and inspired her to show people how smart and complicated piggies truly are.
It seemed Erin was attracting pigs in need, as she soon took on her second piglet, Sookie, who was motherless and attacked by dogs.
Erin is a dedicated mum of three human children alongside an array of rescued farm animals!
Esa
Admin & Sanctuary shop
Esa first came to Contented Pig Inn in 2019, with the intention of adopting a second pig into their family. She left with TWO pigs and kept in touch, officially joining our team on a remote basis a few years later. In place of adopting more pigs, Esa helps out with our sanctuary operations – She can also be found representing our sanctuary (or buying treats) at the QLD vegan markets.
Esa lives off-grid with her piggies, and trains circus aerials.
Andrew “Duckie” – In loving memory

Duckie was there in the very beginning! Alongside Kathie, he helped to form our original sanctuary in the NSW northern rivers, before moving away to follow his dream teaching job. Even from a far, Duckie was always there as the greatest support of Kathie & the piggies.
Sadly he passed on in August 2024, but Duckie will always be a part of our sanctuary!
